Bedroom & Closet Doors | Ask Veronica
Dear Veronica
I am currently looking to move. I want to ask about a type of closet door and Feng Shui.
I’ve seen apartments with mirrored closet doors, some with heavy wooden doors, lightweight wood doors, and then today I saw an apartment with metal closet doors. I know mirrors aren’t considered a positive thing in a bedroom, but the metal doors make me wonder if they would disturb sleep, as I know metal beds aren’t good Feng Shui. Thanks for your help.

Closet Doors

Regarding closet doors, simple doors are best. Most doors have wooden components. Mirrored closet doors were popular in the 70s and are still seen in West Coast homes and flipped homes.
Mirrored closet doors are discouraged because of their reflective nature, more so than a metal door. Mirrors in the bedroom is a practice I discourage. To learn more about mirrors in your home and bedroom, read my blogs, Mirrors In The Bedroom
Both mirrored and metal closet doors can disturb sleep, particularly if they face you or they are close to your bed.
For a temporary fix, both options can be covered with peel and stick wallpaper. Choose a simple design you like and cover the door. Avoid shiny textures or designs.
Headboards

Metal headboards are popular right now with the Cottage Core decorating trend. Unfortunately, they are not good for you.
Metal headboards are discouraged for similar reasons as metal closet doors.
Metal vibrates at louder levels and has the power to break through dense matter, like your body.
If you cannot replace a metal headboard, get creative - cover it with a thick blanket or make a cover for it.
If your sleep is disturbed, your health suffers. Getting proper sleep is one of the most important things for our bodies. During your search, if at all possible, try to choose a unit where your head points to one of your best directions as you sleep.
Hope this helps, Chani. Thanks for your question. Best wishes on your search!
